Personal statement

I have been teaching since I was 14 years old; I love helping someone understand and enjoy playing violin and viola. I especially like to help students master their orchestra music so they feel comfortable and competent performing it. I also like to have friends play together (duets, trios etc.). I don't audition students; if you are interested in learning, I will teach you. I teach children and adults - "ages 9 to 109"! I will take younger students if they have a good working relationship with a parent, who must also attend all the lessons and learn the basics with the child. And I enjoy teaching adult "returnees" as well as beginners.

Lesson information

Summer 2021 update: I now have an HEPA air purifier in my studio (rated for a much bigger room)so I am now teaching in person - masked - in my studio. I can also teach online, via skype or zoom. I can also teach outside, masked, in my yard. And chamber music groups can meet for coaching on my front lawn (it's big enough for "going to the park" distancing).
